About Gravity & Other Myths

Gravity & Other Myths (GOM) is an internationally renowned circus company pushing the boundaries of contemporary circus. Formed in Adelaide, Australia in 2009, GOM has rocketed to stellar acclaim with a series of disarmingly accomplished ensemble works. GOM’s work utilises an honest approach to performance, to create shows with a focus on human connection and acrobatic virtuosity.

GOM’s show A Simple Space has achieved huge international success, receiving multiple awards, and having performed more than 600 times across 30 countries. The follow up show Backbone, created in 2017, has won multiple awards, had stellar reviews, and cemented the company’s position as a leader in contemporary circus. GOM premiered their latest work Out Of Chaos… at Adelaide Festival in February 2019.

GOM has a focus on community engagement and always tries to support the circus community in Adelaide, as well as local circus communities in cities we travel to. Head to our Community Engagement page to find out more.

While we try to not be reliant on government funding or donations, they help us to support the creation of new shows and allow us to take bigger risks. We’re appreciative of anything people can do to support us, whether it be coming to a show, telling a friend about us or helping us out with a donation. For information about donating, get in touch.

A Brief History

Previous Work

Freefall

Freefall was Gravity & Other Myths’ first acrobatic feat. Created in 2009, it explores the fears of each performer through honesty and humour. Punctuated by dynamic acrobatics and contemporary circus theatre, Freefall asks the question… is it our fears that define us?

Freefall was critically acclaimed, won multiple awards, and toured regional and metropolitan Australia over the course of 2 years.

Exhale

An explosion of dynamic group acrobatics and incredible displays of physical strength, Exhale is a 15 minute piece that will have audiences holding their breath. As acrobats tumble across the stage and are tossed into the air, the energy builds to the final breath-taking feat.

Gravity & Other Myths have performed Exhale at festivals, award ceremonies, corporate functions, fundraisers and parades.
